Abstract The modern study of economic inequality is based on the distribution entitlements over goods and services. But social commentators at least since Rousseau have been concerned with a different aspect inequality: that it implies one person entitled to command another for their own personal ends. I call this as labor. propose measure labor by calculating extent which top income groups can afford buy others purpose consumption. Unlike standard measures, not welfarist, but instead has its normative basis in relations domination, hierarchy status between people. estimate three high-inequality two low-inequality countries argue socially politically salient, capturing side neglected measures.
